Fr. Philip Johnson Suicide Prevention and Awareness

Fr. Philip Johnson is a man with an incredible story. After receiving a terminal illness diagnosis of Anaplastic Astrocytoma, Johnson’s entire life changed. But he didn’t let it end; instead, being terminally ill turned the page to an incredible story. Not only did Johnson overcome his terminal illness of Anaplastic Astrocytoma: he defeated the many challenges that were posed along the way. One particular issue that he encountered was the concept of physician-assisted suicide; or a form of human euthanasia administered by healthcare professionals in ten US states. As a Suicide Awareness and Prevention Advocate, Johnson is adamantly against the concept of physician-assisted suicide. Furthermore, through his volunteer efforts, he strives to advocate for individuals struggling with mental health and physical illnesses that may view suicide as the only option. In Johnson’s view, suicide is never the answer; help is always available. He strives to be that helping hand at the voice that echoes a strong and comforting message of Suicide Prevention and Awareness.
